Not worth the price, the rooms are small and feel very tight. The hotel lacks a concierge and guard full time, so you have to ring and wait outside the... read more hotel until someone lets you in, this is very unsafe. There is no bar, ask for a drink and they will open their expensive bottles and charge you $75 a glass and then claim they gave you "their best bottle". For this price, you should be able to know upfront what you are expected to pay. The restaurant is extremely expensive for the quality, charging as much as a renown michelin restaurant, and they do not disclose the prices of the drinks until your bill arrived. After our meal, we signed a service document with what we consumed, once we were checking out, the restaurant experience bill was inflated. We ordered an Argentinian Chandon $30 sparkling wine, but was itemized as a Moet Chandon worth $120. There was no one from the restaurant in the check out process that could be responsible for making this correction. We spoke to the manager and never got a response, we don't live in Ecuador and they said they would offer to host us for free again, rather than acting professionally and reimbursing for the items that were not consumed. Please do not STAY HERE! CASA GANGOTENA IS a thousand times better! More

The hotel is clean and comfortable. It has a cool and refreshing designer vibe combined with a nod to its heritage. I stayed at Illa Experience for a few nights on my return to California from Galapagos and I honestly can’t say enough good things about this hotel. I travel internationally... read more often, and I don’t think I have ever encountered a more welcoming, warm or comfortable stay anywhere in the world. The staff is outstanding and truly made me feel “at home” in their beautiful hotel.
I also booked a tour of the city through them which made my time in Quito so much more meaningful - I don’t think I would have grasped the amount of history or beauty the area contains without this experience. If you have a chance, ask them to schedule you for a day tour with Jorge - not only an incredibly knowledgeable guide, but also just a really amazing human. Enjoy!

They were so engaging and made my experience there that much better Every night there was an "Experience"--while I was there, we tasted delicious hot chocolate, a local tea, learned about antiques and watched how "Ecuador" woven hats were hand created. The architecture is delightful, the way the property has been restored and decorated by hand is just superb.
I loved the San Marcos neighborhood. What a hidden gem, we never expected to find a corner like this in Quito, humble yet sophisticated.
I do hope we can return and explore mainland Ecuador in depth.

Overall great experience, and I would recommend you lodge here or at least enjoy the services they provide.
P.S. the food is another world... and incredible experience to your palette 🙂

It feels like you're staying a beautiful mansion with your own private staff... read more taking care of you. I had a suite with a view of the city and Virgin statue which was spectacular - extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated. Xavier, the manager, was wonderful and went out of his way to ensure every need was met. The breakfast they delivered to my room every morning was delicious and they accommodated all of my preferences. We also had a terrific dinner at the restaurant and highly recommend it - the chef is extremely talented and creative and it felt like we had our own personal chef! The hotel does a great job integrating with the local community and we had a great lecture with a local artisan that refurbishes antique gramophones! It was so interesting and unique and I loved that the hotel supports the artists in the local area. They also did a wonderful demonstration showing how they make local drinks which were delicious.
Staying at the Illa Experience hotel is a MUST if you're in Quito - they truly go above and beyond to make every guest feel special and cared for and the property is beautiful and perfectly located. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
